Most of the chosen games feature brilliant tactics, attacks on the king and even a few extravagant king-hunts. The winner often had to overcome inventive defensive resources and counterattacks. The aim is not just to admire the players' skill, but to learn how readers can play this way in their own games. Chess coach Ataman focuses on the instructive points, explaining which features of the position justified the attacks and what prompted critical decisions. Analysis is restricted to what a human could realistically work out at the board. Miniatures are especially instructive for younger players because we see an idea or plan implemented in full.
